looking for a magazine
I'm doing a project out of the old NeedlePoint Now and I would like to use the pattern out of the magazine issue January/February 1994(it was called Needlepoint Plus then). Does anyone have it? Trudy

Pioneer & Ranch Craft Day in Edinburg
The dreaded Stitching Police were patrolling in Edinburg this weekend.
They seemed to have approved of the work being done by those from Tip O Tex who were demonstrating our craft to the overflowing crowd.
Stitchers on hand were Linda Bertram and Carol Slater at one table.
Martha Linnard and Marge Bhagat were hard at work at the other table. Jane Kittleman and Nancy Fox left before our photographer arrived.
There were large crowds from opening time at 10 a.m. Saturday all through the day. Many expressed interest, not only in the stitching projects, but in the TOT organization. Several flyers were passed out, and serious stitchers (both beginning and advanced) were encouraged to contact the chapter.
(Click on the pictures if you wish to see them larger.)
Yesterday's Tip O Tex meeting was great. We had lots of attendees, the meeting was short, to the point and informative. We had fun stitching as a group though many of us got confused with the darning pattern that we were working on. Thanks to those of you who put your efforts to making this a great club. It does not happen by itself. It is nice to see new attendees at the meeting as well.

Ode to Calloway is a piece designed by Marnie Ritter based on the gardens at Calloway. Needlepoint now featured it and some of us bought the kit and are working on it - I think there were six but I'm not sure. Trudy, Joyce, Lenore, Jane Kittleman and Nancy Fox. Lenore has hers done, Joyce is making great strides. Jane is doing well and the rest of us are back there somewhere. There are a lot of mistakes in the pattern and areas that are hard to figure out, but the finished piece is very pretty. Maybe Lenore will bring it to the next meeting.

Ode to Calleway
Well its going but to be honest I would have measured out the size of the piece and start stitching on the top left/right. This way you don't have to do all the counting out to find A. You could also just find the center and and work out from it.

Hells Gate Mistakes
Yes, we are still working on Hell's Gate. I have talked to Cyndi Powell two days in a row now, as she is working on that piece too. She has come up with two mistakes... not in the pattern itself, but rather mistakes in the color pictures of the two parts of Hell's Gate. If you go by the pattern, you should be okay. If you want to know what the mistakes are, look at sections E(part 1) and Q(part 2) and compare the pattern with what the teacher stitched on hers which were used for the pictures. See, there really are no stitching police!

Through the Garden Gate
I too had a great time - both at the Wildlife Expo and at Judy's. Great to see so many of you at her sale. Today we worked on Hell's gate again. I am still on D - probably forever.
Tip of Texas Membership
In order to get all the membership in by May, I will start collecting dues at the next meeting. For a one year membership it will be $53.00. Whatever dues that are collected will be deposited this month. Thanks! Trudy
ode to Callaway
I'm finding its easier to look at the instructions from the magazine instead of the loose sheet instructions provided with the kit.

Stitch in Public Day
Tip of Texas chapter of EGA was well-represented at the Winter Outdoor and Wildlife Expo at the SPI Convention Center yesterday (2/6/10). Coincidentally, this was the same date as the National EGA Stitch in Public celebration,
Sponsored by St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Port Isabel, we had two tables in the exhibit area and Marge Bhagat, Jewett Powers and Judi Prukop joined me in stitching and visiting with the approximately 2,000+ (this figure is based on last year's amount) visitors to the event.
Judi, a member of our chapter, came to represent the Fronteria Quilt Guild as well. We were also joined by Mary Austin, a member of the church's Prayer Shawl Knitters. Our goal was to share the love of using needles and fibers in a variety of ways. Think that was accomplished.

Garden Gate update
Today I did section D except for the beads - which will be last. I got a good start on Section F. I am waiting a short while to finish section E. For those of you that didn't remember to read comments, Martha Linnard has finished 1. I'm sure Cindy has also. Elaine Sellhorn is busy fixing the count on canvas 1. Carol worked some on Section I and so did Marge. Carol decided this wasn't the day to do that, so she switched to F. Stay tuned next week for the next installment.
