Stitching on the Rio Grande

This blog is dedicated to the use of stitchers along the eastern Rio Grande Valley. We invite you to discuss your projects, ask questions, compare progress, announce new opportunities, and post your photos. Above all this should be a way to communicate and have fun.

While you guys are doing all these fun things, I am stuck doing a polar bear head on a Christmas stocking. I'll try to get a picture of it one of these days. I'm really tired of the stocking and still have more plain blue to do on the top, but I keep telling myself it will be done one of these days.

Don't forget parts 7, 8, & 9 of the sampler next month.

Help!

I started the Ode......discovered after the first block that a page was missing from the instructions. The instructions sent are printed on both sides of the paper. Well.........I have page 14 and then the other side is blank. Then I have 16 and 17. So what I need is page 15 for blocks B and C. So if any of you would be willing to loan me that I page I would really appreciate it. I emailed the designer days ago and no response as of yet. You know how it is when you are into a project and then are missing something....you run to Judy's, right? If you can help me, let me know ASAP. Thanks!

New to the Blog

Well, since I was just able to join the blog, I thought I better contribute. I'd like to thank everyone for making me feel at home during the meeting/class/lunch. I really had a good time. Below is a picture of a piece I did recently.

Hardanger class

Raced home from the meeting and started on what I had learned at the class. The dove eye and woven bar stitches are sooooooooooo relaxing. Before I knew it I had finished two areas! So far so good!

Ruth Merrill

As I stitch today my heart and mind will be with Ruth Merrill. Its fitting that her celebration of life will be at her home. She would like that!

Update

Now that I have two new eyes, I hope to get Callaway soon. I just love it. I think all the ones that have finished have done a great job.

Callaway

I was so impressed with the Ode to Callaway that I ordered my very own. I received it yesterday. The threads are so pretty. I ordered it on Sat. night and received it a week later. Isn't internet shopping fun!

Ode to Calloway and Five Friends

Trudy and I both have our two pieces completed and framed. We will bring them to our meeting. If you are working on these projects or have them completed how about bringing them as well so we can help to inspire the others to complete 5 Friends. Would it not be great if we could get the majority of the chapter members who took Five Friends to complete it. They are beautiful pieces. If I can figure out how to take a picture and post will do so. Tami

Tami, How grand that your family knew just where to shop. You must have enjoyed a very special day. May you have a lovely time at the seminar. robin

Hardanger

Well, Ladies, and Especially teacher Carol, think I'm on track with the blanket stitch but need to work on consistant tension. Am trying stitching with and withhout a hoop - guess it just takes practice. Also, this is not a project with which to enjoy a glass of wine.
See you all soon, robin

Current project

I haven't been able to stitch much since eye surgery, but finally found a piece with bigger canvas, a partridge in a pear tree, and am happily working on that. Hopefully the next surgery will be as easy as the first and I'll see some of you at Judi Prukops next week and all of you at the meeting.

I too, enjoyed my time at Robins. Keeping busy assemblying my parasol etui from Williamsburg. Not perfect but pretty, so far. Also, working on the etui for my sister for her 70th birthday. Mom is enjoying my stitching on it. All else is cool. Trudy did you call the house today? Give me a call back. Lenore.l

My Birthday Presents

Today is my birthday and I received the nicest presents a stitcher could ask for. My sister Trudy gave me a membership in the American Needlepoint Guild, as she wants to make sure that we all get our seminar books for when the meeting is held in San Antonio next year. My husband and kids took my wish list for stitching and used it. It is amazing that he went to Judy's to purchase my gifts. He told me he enjoyed his visit with her while in the shop. I got a Lap Stand and frame for my Stitching system. I finished Ode to Calloway and it is at the framers being framed. I hope to have it in time for our April meeting. Happy Stitching to everyone. Judy

Ladies, it seems Judy has an addiction. Should we hold an intervention?
