Stitching on the Rio Grande

This blog is dedicated to the use of stitchers along the eastern Rio Grande Valley. We invite you to discuss your projects, ask questions, compare progress, announce new opportunities, and post your photos. Above all this should be a way to communicate and have fun.

The May Meeting

We were pleasantly surprised at the May meeting to have LaRee Morgan join us. Many of us had not met her before and those of us that had were pleased to renew acquaintances.

Several students worked hard on their sampler project.

Linda is working on something that doesn't look like a sampler and then of course there is Trisha doing more smiling than working.

May TOT Meeting

Hello Stitchers. This is a very late reporting of our last meeting. Forgive me for taking so long... this is my first venture with a new camera, and getting everything put over to the blog. Karen, Jewett and Janet don't seem to mind waiting.

Tami smiled for me, while she was working on the Sampler. Looks like she's having fun.
Our excellent secretary, Lenore was catching up with some good talk.
Mary Lou was asking for help on the hardanger, and having a good laugh too.
And after the meeting was over, where did we all go? Of course, to reconvene the meeting at Judy's. I hope you all enjoyed the meeting, and the aftermath. Carol

HELP

Hi and I need some help from our needle pointers. I found a project from a class of about 14 years ago that I want to finish. It is called Pyramid Needle Case. The pattern was in Needle Pointers publishe by the American Needlepoint Guild. Vol.XIV, No.l 5, August/September '86. I am not sure if I have all of the pattern because in the finishing instructors it talks about an attached scissor case, thimble case, needle holder etc. to the sides. Lea taught this class and maybe someone remembers or has the magazine you could bring it or your knowledge Saturday. Thank you. Lenore

I am working on Calloway - I'm the slowest of the bunch, but it is coming along and I still really like it. Don't forget that we will be working on the sampler this Saturday and then only one more sections of squares and then the fun of doing the middle.

Hardanger for Opportunity Basket

Trudy asked me to do a piece of hardanger to be placed on a special plate, and incorporated into the Opportunity basket, which this year is a Safari theme. This is the piece we came up with. I hope you like it. Carol

I finished the last section - almost - on Garden Gate one. Have to do a few extras such as initials and beads, but almost. Monday I plugged away some more on Calloway. I think I'm the last of the group except for Carolyn and she didn't start until recently.

Stitch-in delights

What a talented group we are! Along with stitching we know how to prepare great food. Can't decide on a favorite and didn't even have room for dessert. Thank you, Sandra and everyone, a wonderful group of friends. robin

What a great turnout at Sandra's. Twenty-two people all working on interesting projects. If you weren't there, you really missed a good time.
