Stitching on the Rio Grande

This blog is dedicated to the use of stitchers along the eastern Rio Grande Valley. We invite you to discuss your projects, ask questions, compare progress, announce new opportunities, and post your photos. Above all this should be a way to communicate and have fun.

Carol's Challenges

This is my first challenge piece. And it is frame #2 of "In the garden." I do have the first one done!
This is a commission piece which will finish as a 16 inch square pillow. I'd BETTER have it done by the end of the year.
This is the Ann Strite-Kirtz piece called "Oriental Lantern" which I started at the seminar in San Antonio.
This one is hard to see because it is "tone on tone". My candlewicking owl gets worked on only one day a year, at Pioneer Days in Edinburg. This year I think it needs finishing! And this is "Fire and Ice"

Elizabeth I

I'm back from Callaway Gardens and have decided that Elizabeth will be my challenge piece. I did the prework in December. Can't wait to see her finished!

Marge's Challenge Pieces

I have chosen several different kinds of work to represent my challenge. This is partly to keep myself from getting bored. Truly, I will be delighted if I get at least half of them done.

Just out of curiousity

Would anyone on this list be able to point me toward sources on Medieval Norse embroidery? I've been assigned a project.
Thanks
Martha

Decisions....decisions

I am looking through ALL my unfinished projects and trying to decide which ones to try to finish by the Christmas party. I AM SURE no one else has this dilemma.

Martina Weber's Medievel Herb Garden - Midi

This is one of my unfinished projects that I am entering for the finish 2011 Challenge. I started this piece on Labor Day weekend at the Great Escape with lots of my stitching friends. I spent the first 3 months doing all the cross stitching. Now I have the Rhodes stitches and Jessicas to put in then the beading.

Stitchin' Pictures

I posted pictures of some of the pretty things that were in process and progress at the January Stitchin at Carolyn's. They food was fabulous, the fellowship fantastic and the projects gorgeous. If your project is here, tell us more. Designer, challenges and learning experiences? Inspire us to all continue on projects and look to finish more!!

Don't tell anybody but Martha Schwartz used the "f" word

She "f"inished her beautiful South West boot. As seen a the January Stitchin.

Next time you see Carol ask how many time?

"Et tu" parts Lenore?

Parts and more parts with great potential! Is it a horse, a burro or a unicorn? Detail and patiences. That's our girl.

Fabergé eggs?

Is it alive? Sure looks real, and will it be full grown next Christmas?

How many shades of RED!!!!

2011 PROJECT

In my comment, I listed 2 needlepoint pieces I said I would finish. I will and I'll post pictures of those soon. However, I totally forgot my number one "will do" project. I will finish Kiersten's stocking. I finished the lamb since Christmas and I will do the lion's paws, the two geese and the remaining background very soon. So help me.

Lacey Blue, needlecase Done!!!

Well, I've finished my needlecase. After stitching, frogging, and stitching my initials again, I finished it last night. I really don't like frogging over 1 on 28 count!! I won't do the "finishing" right now, but soon.

I've been searching thru my other unfinshed projects, to decide what I want to stitch next. I think I will put some stitches in Lacey Blue. This one is from 2006. This picture is my beginning status. I chose this one because I can't find the directions to the Ukranian Whitework, but did come across the directions for Mexican Convent Sampler!! lol Another old one!! Elaine B.
