Stitching on the Rio Grande

This blog is dedicated to the use of stitchers along the eastern Rio Grande Valley. We invite you to discuss your projects, ask questions, compare progress, announce new opportunities, and post your photos. Above all this should be a way to communicate and have fun.

Just finished another Blackbird mini-stocking tonight - my 41st. Many of you know I was only going to stitch a couple for shop models & fell totally in love with them. One more to go & I will have completed all 12 months, plus 6 from the Halloween book...they have been so much fun. I think my next project will be a new Table Topper to give my eyes a rest.

Saturday

Hope to see you all Saturday. Carol, Shirley, Marge and I will be there. Carol will be prepared to help with hardanger and I can if necessary.

Wow what a stitching time. I worked at Marge's Tuesday along with Carol and Joyce. Got E, G finished and the triangles goldwork done. Then I went to Joyce's for overnight and made good progress on Callaway and even put in 2 hours on the hated Christmas stocking for great-granddaughter Kiersten. Getting there gradually.
Missed not seeing everyone last weekend but my grand daughters birthday must be celebrated with Grandma in attendance. I am busy working on the Ode to Calloway and hopefully will finish this in the next two days. I did some stitching on my easter tree ornaments this past weekend but it looks like those will not be finished until next year to be put up. I have my 5 Friends framed but am waiting for Trudy to pick up hers. We will then take pictures and post to the blog. Tami

Saturday

I thought we had a great meeting Saturday. The class went well, the meeting went well and the "Queen" did her usual good job. Let's all go to Robin's and let's all get our homework done. I'll look up who is on the blog and try to change a couple of things soon.

CONGRATULATIONS

Good for you Karen. Carol, Marge and I worked on Garden Gate Tuesday. We are making some progress. I took out a section of E and put it back and got some more of E done. Next Tuesday should see that finished and on to the next section. I think I'm the slowest of the three, but at least the progress is stead.

BIG FINISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jump up and down everyone, I am sooooooooo excited, I have just finished the Chatelaine Medieval Town Mandala!!!!! Karen

Busy, Busy, BUSY!!!

Yes, it's been quite busy at Judy's lately. Many new items have arrived since Judy was at market last month. We've seen many of you recently as you've been getting your book and supplies for the upcoming class in Hardanger at our EGA meeting on Saturday. Look forward to learning a new and fun technique of stitching. I LOVE Hardanger!! See you Saturday!!

Boring

I spent time today at the post-RGVNA group's stitch-in. Had good attendance and good time. That wasn't boring, but stitching the whole time and all evening on plain blue on a Christmas stocking for my great-granddaughter was. Boy do I need to get to some color.

Hi Everyone !!
I have finally clicked into the group today & have enjoyed reading all your prior postings. Love the pic of the "stitching police" ... very scary! I have been waist deep in boxes at the shop. Elaine & I have finally unpacked all the goodies I bought at the recent Nashville market. Hope y'all can stop in for a visit soon & see in person. Since I don't get to stitch much this of the year, I especially love reading all about your projects & seeing pictures. **Judy**

Welcome Lenore

Welcome Lenore and Susan

Karen, I usually sew them on with a cross stitch using a whole cross stitch, not a half cross but I don't know it that's right or not.

Bead Question

When sewing on beads such as little crystal cubes or bicones would you sew them in an X or a straight stitch? Some of the bicones are next to seed beads and I'd prefer them to lay flat. I've tried stitching both ways and I'm undecided which would be the best way to go. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!! Karen

Stitch-In

We had a really nice stitch-in today. Most people got a lot done and some people got help. That's what this group is for - to have fun, do some stitching, and help each other.

We got into a discussion of things we'd like to do for the next two years. The committee could certainly use some ideas. How about contributing some?

Karen, in case your helper didn't tell you, please be sure to look at the comments as well as the postings.

Tuesday I worked on part E of Garden Gate and then went on to the next section. Looking back, I realized I had a mistake in E and had to take out what I put in. Oh well, some days are just like that.
