Stitching on the Rio Grande

This blog is dedicated to the use of stitchers along the eastern Rio Grande Valley. We invite you to discuss your projects, ask questions, compare progress, announce new opportunities, and post your photos. Above all this should be a way to communicate and have fun.

Prickly Pear Cactus

This piece was stitched with white cotton and then the canvas and the white cotton were painted with acrylic paint. Afterwards I then did the outline and highlighted stitching of the cactus.  Lastly the ribbons were added. I had the piece framed and now will cut the pricklies and finish with fray check to keep them from unraveling. This was a class piece taught in Santa Fe By Barbara Elmore. Fun to do. Tami
