HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Well, it must be midnight, because there are a lot of fireworks going off around the area!!

I've watched the ball drop in NYC on Fox at midnight as I am stitching on one of my challenge pieces for 2011. I'm working on the needlecase that was a 10th anniversary piece for the chapter back in 2004. I've attached a picture of the status of this as I started stitching tonight.

One of the things I'm missing is the finishing instructions to put the needlecase together. If anyone still has their instructions, could I have or borrow them please. Thanks!

Ok, back to a little more stitching before I quit for the night.

Stitching Christmas

I got one new project for Christmas. I received the kit for Stitching for Autism from my daughter-in-law. It is a neat project - small but wonderfully colorful. I'll try to bring it to the next meeting. Niel also brought me a bunch more scissors holders - he is getting better and better. He also gave me a beautifully turned small bowl.

Sampler

Carol and I are teaching this same sampler here in our park. They have elected to all do it on canvas. Can any of you lend me your pieces on canvas so I can show different color ways? It would be nice if you could bring them to the Christmas party. I will show them at the beginning of January and have them back to you at the January meeting. Thanks so much.

Southwest boot

Finished the serape and pants, almost finished with the adobe house. Actually had a day to stitch since I was home with a sick child. Will post pictures of my progress Sunday. I am really enjoying this venture into randomness instead of using set, counted patterns.

Today

Barry's reunion is over and a great time was had by all who attended. Jewett and I are spending the day stitching. Looks like you all had a great time at the boot class. Joyce

Boot Class

What a great time - not only for the class but also for the friendships. We got a chance to become better friends with some members who don't get to come often. I am determined to get Callaway done yet this year so instead of working on the boot today, I've finished one more square - the chapel. Next are the little girls or women whichever. After that I need to put the date on and do a little beading and I'm finally through. Stand by for pictures later.

Saturday, November 6, 2010

O HAPPY DAY!

We had such a great day stitching today with Jeannette Rees our southwest boot teacher. Jeannette is the GREATEST! I personally had so much fun being with friends and doing something I love....STITCHING. If you were not there....you missed a special time. O....and of course, we will all be finished with our boot by the end of class tomorrow! Ha! Ha! Just a little humor!

Sampler

Trecia - welcome to the blog and glad to see you posted.

No, there is no border around the center - just the borders around each square.

Question about mystery sampler

Hi ladies! Is there a border around the middle section??? I didn't see any directions for one. Just thought I would ask. Thanks

Let's get Blogging

David S gave ToT Members a quick tutorial on how to access and use the blog. We certainly hope to see more postings and pictures of fabulous projects from everyone.

ToT is Sweet "16"

Everyone enjoyed celebrating the 16th Anniversary of Tip of Texas' EGA founding.

If you were not here, we missed YOU!

I said I wasn't a techie.

Arabia 3

.

I have now completed section 3 of Arabia.  The stitches are fun.  There is a lot of compensation, but it is fully diagrammed so that helps.  I will post more when all of Section A is complete.

Hopefully after yesterday's meeting, more of you will be encouraged to start posting pictures of your work.  Pictures are what make our blog really interesting.  If you haven't learned how to manipulate pictures, start trying.l  It only took me about a year to figure it out, but I never claimed to be a techie.

ARABIA

Now that I have learned how to put pictures on the blog, I'll probably drive you crazy, but I have decided to put up pictures of things in progress, not wait until the piece is complete.  I encourage you to do the same.

This is a piece called Arabia.  It is by Kathy Rees from Needle Delights Originals and I'm doing it for Judy.  The first time I saw the threads I wasn't impressed, but I wanted to stitch the piece.  The photo above shows the smyrna cross dividing lines.  They look simple, but I couldn't count straight and kept going to Carol so she could find my mistakes.

This picture shows parts 1 & 2 of section A.  These were really fun to stitch.  The colors don't seem to be related, but I just started part 3 and that watercolor starts to tie it all together.  I am starting to really love it.  Hopefully in a few days, I'll have 3 & 4 completed.  Stay tuned.

Judy, that is a really good piece.  I can't imagine how long it took.

Tami - thanks for the facebook page.  It fits the bill of what national suggested chapters do.  It may help newcomers find us.

Progress on my Chatelaine Piece

I started working on my Chatelaine piece by Martina Weber called "The Medieval Herb Garden Midi" while at the Great Escape. Lots of cross stitch in this piece and so here in my progress so far.

Rainy Days and Sundays are great days to stitch

Today I stitched the 3 blocks given tous yesterday at our September meeting. I did the Coral Stitch around the middle block and it looked great! I have not completed the pull back ground work on my blocks yet as the weave on this linen is so loose that it distorted the piece when I tried with the first block months ago. I will do the pull work once I complete all the stitching in the middle block. Rainy days are great for stitching. Not to good for taking pictures though.

Posting

When I suggested this blog, I was hoping lots of us would post pictures of our projects and comment on the stitching of them. You don't have to wait until a project is finished, you can just put up pictures along the way. Now I know I haven't done it either, but I want to do a better job from now on. Why don't you try to. If you want to see a blog with lots of needlework pictures on it and comments about same, try www.frontrangestitcher.blogspot.com. Right now she is writing about cleaning house, but scroll down to some older posts and see what I mean. She also has lots of links to other blogs. Try it someday when you get tired of stitching.

Sunday, September 5, 2010

We all had a great time at the Great Escape. Carol took pictures and so did Tami so watch this space. Also one of the Austin girls took a picture of the "Valley Girls" and promised to e-mail it down so it can be on the blog. I did a lot of work on Callaway but didn't finish it. Joyce finished stitching a project and Viva finished a sweater. Tami decided to take up beading and we all ate well. See you Saturday at Joyce's.

Saturday, August 21 is our next Tip of Texas Stitch In at Kathy Morrow's house in Brownsville. Hope to see you all there.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Have you ever wanted to show a piece across the room in frustration???? Well that is the way I felt this weekend. After stitching over 8 hours on 40 ct. linen - I discovered I had made a mistake - one stitch -yes, ONE STITCH. I thought surely I can make this work, but it was too much to adjust .... SO I spent over 2 hours cutting out! The next night I began again & was about 45 minutes into the journey again & YES, you guessed right - a mistake again - ONE STITCH. I took out a second time (only 30 mins this time) - stopped - took a shower - then started yet again. I "think" I am okay now. I'm thinking I should work on a BIG 28 ct tonight & rest my nerves - sigh!

Slackers

Isn't anybody down there doing anything? No one is posting. I finished "Two Cottages" and got it framed and have almost finished "Two Gingerbread Houses". That one will be finished tomorrow and then I am going back to Ode to Callaway and try to work some on it. I now have my "new"
used Dazor so I have light to work with. Boy does it make a difference.

Besides that I have painted faces on my nativity set and "completed ?" two paintings. One could use a lot more work, but not sure where to go next. Probably should stick to stitching.

What's Stitching

I finished "Two Cottages" and started "Two Gingerbread Houses". These are really fun, but the
gingerbread tke a lot more than either the cottages or the lighthouses. I have to be here at least through the 7th and my daughter wants me to stay and take a painting class with her the 18-20th.
I haven't agreed to that yet. I miss stitching with all of you. See you someday.

ANOTHER FINISH

Finished my BIG sampler "Quaker Diamonds" by Rosewood Manor late last night. Back to my small ornaments, until I decide what next big project I will start ... I have a couple in mind -oh the joy of staring a new project just gives me a thrill - you too??? Judy

Finished the bear vests

I finished the bear vests last night. They go on the stuff bears that the club did as a group project years ago. Thank god for trash to treasure and Jewett since I get some really interesting stuff to work on. They were easy but it does take a little time to do the beading!
Now for a halloween project???? Trudy

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Hi. I finished a halloween etui, will bring in September and 2 table toppers for gifts when I go to stay with friends and relatives in Washington state. I leave here Sat. 24th. The May Meeting

We were pleasantly surprised at the May meeting to have LaRee Morgan join us. Many of us had not met her before and those of us that had were pleased to renew acquaintances.

Several students worked hard on their sampler project.

Linda is working on something that doesn't look like a sampler and then of course there is Trisha doing more smiling than working.

May TOT Meeting

Hello Stitchers. This is a very late reporting of our last meeting. Forgive me for taking so long... this is my first venture with a new camera, and getting everything put over to the blog. Karen, Jewett and Janet don't seem to mind waiting.

Tami smiled for me, while she was working on the Sampler. Looks like she's having fun.
Our excellent secretary, Lenore was catching up with some good talk.
Mary Lou was asking for help on the hardanger, and having a good laugh too.
And after the meeting was over, where did we all go? Of course, to reconvene the meeting at Judy's. I hope you all enjoyed the meeting, and the aftermath. Carol
